About the Artist

What do you see in a moment?
Capturing Moments
I paint poetry! The colors, whether they are the soft, muted colors of night relinquishing its darkness to day or the bold colors of the day fighting for that last bit of fire before the night returns, set the mood of quiet, calm verses. The paintings become poetry as the composition reveals itself and the first marks are placed on the paper. I find joy in finding the light, in setting the mood before the sun explodes to chase away the last vestiges of the peaceful serenity of night. I find joy in harnessing the fiery power of the brilliant colors throughout the day. I capture this feeling in my paintings. I capture that moment in time. I paint poems with soft strokes, with layered colors and with quiet sentiment.
The world is full of wonders just waiting to be captured as moments in time. Being able to capture what I see and put that on paper has always fascinated me from a young age. I love the feel of pastels, from the hard, fine lines to the buttery strokes of a soft stick, for landscapes. There is closeness between what I see and the immediacy of translating that onto paper using pastels. I can be as free and wild as nature or as controlled as a formal garden with just a few strokes. I also work in pencil, graphite, conte and colored.
